Membership CategoriesDetermine the membership categories that are most suitable for you and your organization.EDA has two types of membership categories: individual and group. Individual members can be voting or non-voting. All group members are non-voting. Memberships are valid from January 1-December 31. |
Individual (Voting) Member: Support the objectives of EDA, and employed in economic development in Alberta as a municipal, provincial, federal or Indigenous government employee; or as a private practitioner. Individual (Voting) Members have full rights to vote in the affairs of EDA and enjoy membership benefits. They are non-transferable. $265 + GST.
Corporate (Voting) Member: A municipal, provincial, federal or Indigenous organization that supports the objectives of EDA, and employs economic development practitioners in Alberta. Corporate (Voting) Members have full rights to vote in the affairs of EDA and otherwise enjoy membership benefits. Memberships are non-transferable. $365 + GST.
Professional Member: An Individual Member that has obtained and currently holds a current certification from either EDAC or IEDC. Professional Members are required to provide copies of current certification (Ec.D. or CEcD) with their application. $265 + GST.
Professional in Training Member: An Individual Member that has completed a certificate program in Economic Development, but not yet passed the exam for professional certification from EDAC or IEDC. Professional in Training Members are required to provide a copy of their certificate in Economic Development from the appropriate institution. $265 + GST.
Honorary Life (Individual): Any person that, by resolution of the Board, is deemed to have given distinguished service or support to the Association. This membership category provides for a waiver of dues for the lifetime of the Honorary Life Member. All EDA Immediate Past Presidents are provided with an Honorary Life membership upon completion of their term to recognize their commitment to the organization. Memberships are non-transferable.
Individual (Non-Voting) Member: An individual that supports the objectives of EDA, but not directly employed in the economic development field in Alberta. This includes:
Individual (Non-Voting) Members do not have the power to vote or hold office or receive awards or scholarships. Memberships are non-transferable. $265 + GST.
For Profit- Basic (Group): Covers up to 5 individuals in the same for-profit organization. Members do not have the power to vote or hold office, receive awards or scholarships, or host major EDA events. Individual names can be changed during the year. $1500 + GST.
For Profit- Enhanced (Group): Covers 6-10 individuals in the same for profit organization. Members do not have the power to vote or hold office, receive awards or scholarships, or host major EDA events. Individual names can be changed during the year. $2500 + GST.
Not For Profit- Basic (Group): Covers up to 5 individuals working in the same not for profit organization (i.e. government department, educational institution or association). Members do not have the power to vote or hold office, receive awards or scholarships, or host major EDA events. Individual names can be changed during the year. $1000 + GST.
Not For Profit- Enhanced (Group): Covers 6-10 individuals working in the same not for profit organization (i.e. government department, educational institution or association). Members do not have the power to vote or hold office, receive awards or scholarships, or host major EDA events. Individual names can be changed during the year. $2000 + GST.
Reciprocal: These are provided to the CEO/ED of EDA’s sister economic development organizations. EDA is also provided with a reciprocal membership in each of the organizations. They do not have the power to vote or hold office, receive awards or scholarships, or host major EDA events.
