EDA CEO Leann Hackman-Carty Earns the Emergency Management Exemplary Service Award

Last week in Ottawa, EDA CEO Leann Hackman-Carty was given the Emergency Management Exemplary Service Award for her work in economic disaster recovery and community resilience.

Following the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo wildfire, Leann had an integral role in supporting the recovery of the community. She managed and led a team of experts on the implementation of a complete Economic Opportunity and Recovery Assessment for the region and worked with the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo to set up and run the Business Recovery Hotline to validate businesses for Canadian Red Cross Emergency Relief. In 2017, Leann launched a pilot project to bring economic resilience training for community and regional leaders to four Alberta communities. This important work in fostering community resilience is further reflected by the release of her series of preparedness, response and recovery guides for families, business and communities.

Click here to see Natalie's video

We would like to give a shout out to Angela Groeneveld and her entry. Talk about passion!

    Here's Angela's video
