The Indigenous Economics Research Cluster at the University of Victoria, the Journal of Aboriginal
Economic Development, and the Council for the Advancement of Native Development Officers invite
submissions for a one-and-a-half-day Indigenous Economic Development Workshop taking place in
person in Victoria, British Columbia, on October 4–5, 2026, immediately prior to Cando’s Annual
National Conference, aligned with the conference theme “Flowing with Abundance: Indigenous
Prosperity through Knowledge, Partnership, and Renewal.”

This workshop will bring together Indigenous and non-Indigenous scholars, practitioners, community
researchers, knowledge holders, students, and professionals working in economics, public
administration, business, law, Indigenous studies, history, governance, and related fields. The
gathering is designed as a relational and collaborative space for sharing research, practice-based
knowledge, historical understanding, and community-grounded priorities in Indigenous economic
development. We welcome both academic paper presentations and practice-based presentations.
Submissions may present completed work, work in progress, case studies, community-led research,
reflections from practice, historical or legal analysis, policy insights, or emerging questions that would
benefit from discussion with a diverse group of scholars and practitioners.
