Membership Categories
Members of the public can apply for the following types of membership: Full and Affiliate.
Memberships are valid for the calendar year, from January 1 to December 31.
Full Members
Individuals employed by non-profit, municipal, provincial, federal, or Indigenous organizations whose primary responsibilities involve the practice of economic development. This may include activities such as:
- Senior Organizational Leadership (CEO/Executive Director/Director)
- Business Retention
- Business Counseling and Support
- Pathfinding for Businesses
- Entrepreneurship Development
- Workforce Development
- Business and Investment Attraction
- Market Research
- Policy Formation
- Economic Development Strategy Development
- Tourism Development and Attraction
- Brownfield or Greenfield Development
- Downtown Redevelopment
- Industry Cluster Development
- Incentives
Full members are granted all rights and privileges as outlined in the Act and these Bylaws, including voting rights. Each individual may hold only one membership. Memberships are non-transferable and non-assignable. Annual Fee is $280 + GST/year. If you are employed by an eligible organization but your role supports, rather than directly engages in, economic development activities, then apply for an Affiliate Membership.
Affiliate Members
Elected officials would apply under this category. Individuals who have an interest in and are supportive of the objectives of the EDA but do not meet the requirements for Full Membership. Affiliate members are entitled to those rights afforded to members under the Act and these Bylaws, excluding the right to vote. No such individual shall be entitled to hold more than one membership. Membership is non-transferable or assignable. Annual Fee: $280 + GST/year.
Elected officials and private sector consultants would apply under this category.
Honorary Life Members
An ‘Honorary Life’ Member shall be any person who, by resolution of the Board, is deemed to have given distinguished service or support to EDA. An Honorary Life Member shall enjoy such entitlements to benefits and rights to vote as from time to time defined by resolution of the Board. These are not open for application.
