Economic Recovery Technical Assistance Teams (TAT)

Economic Recovery Technical Assistance Teams (TAT) Module

Economic Developers Alberta has supported several communities with business and economic response and recovery efforts, including the 2013 Southern Alberta floods, the 2016 Fort McMurray wildfires, the 2020 COVID lockdowns, and the 2024 Alberta Wildfires. It has also supported the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) with volunteers to serve on their post-disaster Technical Assistance Teams (TATs).

EDA’s award-winning Economic Disaster Recovery Program (EDRP) provides the most up-to-date training, resources, and best practice information on how communities can prepare for, respond to, and recover their businesses and economies from unanticipated disruptions, such as natural disasters or man-made crises. Equipping community leaders and economic development professionals enables them to better understand their roles and responsibilities in moving their region's economic recovery and resiliency plans forward. While a growing number of EDA members and stakeholders have first-hand experience with natural and other types of disasters, many still lack the theoretical knowledge of how to plan and what to do.

To continue to build capacity for future Economic Recovery Technical Assistance Teams, EDA has developed a Community Economic Resilience Mentor (CERM) certificate that includes completion of a number of elements, one of which includes the Economiic Recovery Techical Assistance Teams (TAT) module.
